Mexique, des histoires minérales

Mexico : Mineral Stories - Conference in Spanish

Discover Sorbonne University and the National Autonomous University of Mexico’s latest conference, dedicated to Mexico’s sweeping mineral history.

Conference conducted in Spanish.

  • On October 27th

  • 14:00 - 15:30
  • Online on Zoom

In person at Room 116, 1st floor, block 44-54 (access via Tower 44), Campus Pierre et Marie Curie, 4 Place Jussieu, Paris 75005.

The conference, led by Sorbonne University and its longtime strategic partner UNAM, is set to highlight the fascinating history behind the Sorbonne University Mineral Collection’s latest exhibition, Mexico: Mineral Stories.

Minerals have long occupied a central place in the history of Mexico, and held an array of important functions over thousands of years, from the sacred to the scientific, aesthetic to political. The study of minerals parallels the study of human history, revealing important insights into the complex relationship between the Earth and those who inhabit it.

The conference will take place on October 27 from 2pm to 3:30pm, both online and at the Sorbonne University Pierre et Marie Curie Campus in Paris, with expert presentations from a member of both academic communities. The conference will be conducted primarily in Spanish, with supporting materials in French.

Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine teaches the 3 cycles of medical studies: from PASS (integrated into the faculty) to the 3rd cycle including DES, DESC, DU and DIU. The lessons are given mainly on two sites: Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine. The faculty also provides paramedical education: speech therapy, psychomotricity and orthoptics. The Saint-Antoine site includes a midwifery school.

Welcome to Sorbonne University's Faculty of Science & Engineering

A unique combination of courses and expertise

Our international study programmes are organised according to the major disciplinary areas of the faculty. They represent the graduate study programmes that are not strictly conducted in French or that could be suitable (in part) for non French-speaking students. They also reflect part of the diversity of the disciplines involved and the bi- and inter-disciplinary aspects of many of the courses we offer.

Research & Innovation

We rely on disciplinary skills and on interdisciplinary approaches to renew concepts, methods and research subjects and to focus on some of the crucial issues faced by our societies: transformations affecting the very construction of knowledge (data, AI), the treatment of complex objects (the environment, marine and ocean sciences, cultural heritage) or our contributions to addressing societal challenges (climate change, healthcare).
